Morana or Mara, Morena, in Slavic mythology, the mighty and terrible goddess of Winter and Death, the wife of Koshchei and the daughter of Lada, the sister of Alive and Lelia. Marana among the Slavs in ancient times was considered the embodiment of evil forces.
